Which Cambridge IGCSE Biology papers do you need?
“CIE” is a commonly used name for Cambridge International. This collection is for IGCSE Biology 0610; check the syllabus code rather than choosing by subject name alone. Cambridge’s 2026–2028 Biology syllabus sets out the examination routes.
| Core with Practical Test | Paper 1 multiple choice + Paper 3 theory + Paper 5 |
|---|---|
| Core with Alternative to Practical | Paper 1 multiple choice + Paper 3 theory + Paper 6 |
| Extended with Practical Test | Paper 2 multiple choice + Paper 4 theory + Paper 5 |
| Extended with Alternative to Practical | Paper 2 multiple choice + Paper 4 theory + Paper 6 |
| Solutions | Included for every paper in your selected practice option |
Paper 5 and Paper 6 are alternatives in the examination route, not two compulsory components. A practical-related PDF can support preparation, but it does not replace supervised laboratory work. Follow your centre’s practical assessment arrangements.
CIE Biology Paper 2 and Paper 4 revision: explain the links
For Extended multiple choice, practise explaining why the correct option works and why the alternatives fail. For theory, build answers around the question’s command word. “Describe” asks for what happens; “explain” needs the biological reason. Core students should apply the same habits to Papers 1 and 3, using their course content.
- Cells and movement: connect structure with function and distinguish diffusion, osmosis and active transport.
- Enzymes and nutrition: explain how a change affects a process, using relevant conditions and measurements.
- Transport and respiration: follow substances through a system and distinguish movement from chemical reactions.
- Coordination, reproduction and inheritance: use precise terminology and keep causes in a logical sequence.
- Ecology: interpret relationships, population data and environmental effects in the context given.
These are broad revision areas, not a promise of particular October/November questions. Check the syllabus and revise all required content rather than restricting yourself to a prediction list.
A short Biology explanation example
Revision example: Why does water enter a plant root-hair cell by osmosis when the surrounding solution has a higher water potential?
Water moves from the higher water potential outside to the lower water potential inside through the partially permeable membrane. A useful answer links direction, water potential and membrane. Saying only “the plant needs water” does not explain the mechanism. This is a teaching example, not an advertised extract from the practice PDFs.

Paper 6 Alternative to Practical: practise interpreting evidence
When revising practical skills, practise identifying the independent and dependent variables, suggesting suitable controls and explaining how to improve reliability. Give specific improvements connected to the experiment rather than writing “be more accurate”.
For tables and graphs, include units, choose sensible scales and describe trends using the data. Distinguish an observation from a conclusion. Students taking Paper 5 should also work with their teacher on the actual practical skills needed for their route.
How to use the predicted papers and solutions
- Choose the correct Core or Extended paper and follow its instructions for a timed attempt.
- Keep solutions closed until you have finished. For multiple choice, record your reasoning on difficult items.
- Review missing scientific terms, incomplete causal explanations and errors in data interpretation.
- Revisit the relevant syllabus section, then retry missed questions without the solutions.
- Use another suitable practice resource to check that you can apply the idea in a different context.
Frequently asked questions
Can I download only CIE Biology Paper 4?
Yes. The product has individual paper-with-solutions options alongside valid three-paper Core or Extended route bundles. Check the selected papers before checkout.
Do I need Papers 5 and 6?
Your examination route uses either the Practical Test or Alternative to Practical. Confirm which component you are entered for rather than buying both automatically.
Are these official Cambridge predicted papers?
No. These are Tyrion Papers practice resources, not official Cambridge examination papers, leaked questions or guaranteed predictions.
Are solutions included?
Yes. Every selected paper comes with solutions. Access is digital after purchase; gallery previews are not complete free downloads.
